Ye olde' Summer Anime Preview

Summer is here! Well, not for me. At home it's always summer, and in OZ it's winter. Oh, well. Anyway, here's the list of summer anime for all you otakus out there. Yes, I'm a little LATE. No need to tell me. And even being late I can't find any images for these damn shows. Oh well, I'll (and you will too) just have to go by what their websites have. I'll TRY to make this short, 'cos I'm guessing you've seen this somewhere? I THINK it's mostly complete. Tell me if I missed any, especially if they're good ones. ^^ There are a few less animes than you would expect, but I guess that's the way it works. I don't think I'll actually watch them all though, get's a little mind-numbing, and I don't have the cash for more BT storage, heh. T_T June 2006 1) FLAG Date of Airing: 16th June Anime Genre: Mecha, Science Fiction No. of Episodes: 13 Summary: In the 21st Century, an war is going on in a small country within Asia. The cameraman, Shirasu Saeko, takes a picture of a flag in the middle of a battlefield. Using this picture and flag as basis for making peace with each other, they are about to reach an agreement when the flag is stolen. As a result, Shirasu Saeko must go and record the activities of the thieves, but it was an easy mission gone wrong. 2) Honey & Clover II Date of Airing: 29th June Anime Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance No. of Episodes: 13 Summary: This is the second season of Honey & Clover, a fan-favorite series that follows the lives of students living in an art school. In this second season, the story takes a change - it is now far more serious and dramatic than the last season. Some comedy elements remain, but hearts are rumbling and lives are moving onward, so things must be settled! 3) Binbou Shimai Monogatari Date of Airing: 29th June Anime Genre: Drama, School Life No. of Episodes: n/a Summary: This story is a sad and heartwarming tale of two sisters, Kyo and Asu (15 and 9 years old, respectively). They have been living alone since their mother died and father left a huge debt. They overcome many problems financially, and emotionally with the kindness of those around them. July 2006 4) Demashita! PowerPuff Girls Date of Airing: 1st July Anime Genre: Comedy No. of Episodes: 52 (WTF?!) Summary: Holy shit. Powerpuff girls? Chibi-fied no less. Both belong to families that hate each other. A Romeo and Juliet story with a twist. 8) Chevalier Special Date of Airing: 2nd July Anime Genre: Action, Fantasy No. of Episodes: 1 Summary: Just before the french Revolution, Versialles was prosperous. One day at dawn, the dead body of Lia de Beaumon was seen floating in the Seine. The letters PSALMS were carved on her coffin. Her little brother, D'Eon is trying to figure the case out when a terrible history gets reveailed to him. 9) Project BLUE Chikyuu SOS Date of Airing: 2nd July Anime Genre: Action, Science Fiction No. of Episodes: n/a Summary: In the year 2000, mankind invents an incredible engine that can have a bullet train travel from Tokyo to New York City in 90 minutes. When the engine was about to be unveiled, the train disappears. But it's not an isolated event, many other disappearances occur in the world. Despite the fact that Motoharu is popular with all the girls in the school, Nanami does not like him. But destiny forces them together, and what will come of it? 12) Mamotte! Lollipop Date of Airing: 6th July Anime Genre: Comedy No. of Episodes: n/a Summary: One day, Nina saw a candy next to her cake and ate it. It turned out to be a magicial item, which turned her into an object in an Exam for Magicians. The person who obtains Nina and keeps her for 6 months will become an wizard. Her life becomes chaotic as she gets taken constantly by competitors. 13) Zero no Tsukaima Date of Airing: 7th July Anime Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Harem, Romance No. of Episodes: 13 Summary: Hiraga Saito, an ordinary high schooler, got summoned to another world by the witch Louise. Louise is cute and well known for her inability to actually use magic properly. When Louise tricks him into kissing her, Hiraga Saito becomes her familiar. As an result, he has to live with Louise in the dorms of the Magic Academy she attends. Painful adventures begin! 14) Koi Suru Tenshi Angelique ~Kokoro Mezameru Toki~ Date of Airing: 8th July Anime Genre: Adventure, Fantasy No. of Episodes: n/a Summary: Angelique is a dating simulation game for girls, like Meine Liebe and Harukanaru Toki no Naka de. The story revolves around two girls who were selected from different planets to protect the universe. In order to become the sole protector of the universe, they must go through many trails to test their worth. They have nine guardians of the elements, who help them. But the girls find themselves noticing feelings for the guardians who help them, will they choose to fall in love or to protect the universe? 15) Tonagura! Date of Airing: 11th July Anime Genre: Comedy, Romance No. of Episodes: 13 Summary: Kazuki and Yuji were childhood friends, but Yuji had to leave for 10 years. When Kazuki finds out he is coming back, she is anticipating what kind of man he has become. Despite her illusions, he turns out to be a dirty pervert who is trying to win her love (or body?) Will Kazuki open up to him, or is he just a dirty pervert after all? 16) Chokotto Sister Date of Airing: 13th July Anime Genre: Slice of Life No. of Episodes: n/a Summary: When Haruma was a child, he wished for a younger sister for Christmas. Years later, Santa gives him a little sister (It took years to make the little sister, apparently). Suprised by this gift, he takes her in and names her Chokotto. She is very cute and is the little sister he dreamed to have. Cutesy. 17) Innocent Venus Date of Airing: 26th July Anime Genre: Mecha, Science Fiction No. of Episodes: Summary: In 2010, hurricanes pop up all over the world and 6 billion people lose their lives. As a result, the earth has changed so much the map must be completely redrawn. Japan survived and recovered a bit thanks to technology they have been researching for a long time. However, the rich and poor are now separated, and a special military squad was created in order to keep the rich and poor from breaking out into a war. 18) Usahana Date of Airing: ?? July Anime Genre: Comedy No. of Episodes: n/a Summary: The story revolves around an hikkikomori, something often associated with being otaku despite that it's a far bigger stigma, named Sato Tatsuhiro. Due to paranoia, he thinks his becoming a hikkikomori is a result of an evil group called Nihon Hikikomori Kyokai (NHK) so he deciedes to fight back. After finally leaving his house, Nakahari Misaki shows up in his life and tries to change his life. Very funny and sad. 20) Tsuyokisu Date of Airing: ?? July Anime Genre: Action, Harem, School Life No. of Episodes: 13 Summary: In this bishoujo game to anime adaptation, you are surrounded by tsundere girls. Tsundere girls are girls who are strict and uptight in public, not allowing anyone to see their true self. But sometimes get caught in weak moments where they show their soft and childish side ala Tohsaka of Fate I guess. The main characer, Tsushima Reo is in love with one such character, but there are quite a few others going after him. Which one would he choose? 21) Coyote Ragtime Show Date of Airing: ?? July Anime Genre: Action, Science Fiction No. of Episodes: n/a Summary: A war is occuring on the planet of Grazeland, but because the other planets are worried the war might break out in other planets, they deciede to destroy the planet of Grazeland. There are seven days left before it's destroyed, but there is a pirate treasure left by the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger... er no, sorry, by a guy named Blues on the planet, and people want to recover it before the world is destroyed! 22) Night Head Genesis Date of Airing: ?? Seed. OVA. Need I say more? 24) Muteki Kanban Musume Date of Airing: ?? July Anime Genre: Comedy No. of Episodes: 12 Summary: A Kanban Musume is a poster girl for a store. This is what Onimaru Miki is, for her families Chinese restaurant. But she always makes trouble for everyone! There is another kanban musume, Kannazuki Megumi, for a bakery store. Megumi acts cute and nice, but it's just a disguise. Megumi considers Miki an rival, and keeps picking fights with her! 25) Riri to Kaeru to (Otouto) Date of Airing: ?? Right, that about covers it. I really can't say what we'll be watching. But I like comedies and romantic stuff, and there seem to be quite a few in the offing. Looking forward to NHK ni Youkoso, Zero no Tsukaima, Honey & Clover II (obviously) and maybe Tsukoyiso. Probably will try to catch those 3 new Gundam shows just to say I've seen it.
